Exploring faith…

This picture is 100% true. I was born into a family in 1969, predominantly Italian. Or so I thought for all of my life.

My last name I was told was a German last name. My mother’s family Italian. So I was baptized catholic, however only saw the inside of a Catholic church at the age of 7 for an uncle’s funeral. The imagery to me then was quite disturbing.

By the age of 10, my dad embarked on a maddening trip thru the Pentecostal wonderland of elitism and prejudice.

I walked away many many years later with too many questions and left to wonder how I ever accepted what I was told there.

Then, a short while after my mom passed, my dad explored Ancestry.com for some answers and informed me that in all reality our last name did indeed come from Germany, but it is instead a Jewish name as there are no German Jews, just Jews from Germany.

Why it took most of my life to learn this I wish I knew, but here I am trying to make sense of my place in the world, my upbringing and what it ALL means.

This should be an interesting journey.
